Week 7 Question 3

Wilson, an opponent of using rubrics, disagrees with Spandel who said that teachers should make their own rubrics (57). Wilson argues that writing our own rubrics “undermines” the standardization rubrics were created to provide. That, if we “accept the suitability of rubrics for writing assessment, we implicitly accept the need for this standardization” (57).  Do you agree with Wilson? Is accepting the purpose for using rubrics an implicit acceptation of the need for standardization? If standardization is the norm should rubrics be standardized as well?
