In August 2016 I took a trip to Tamarindo, Costa Rica. I had been to Costa Rica before. In 2004 I went to the School of the World in Jaco, which is further down the Pacific Coast. Tamarindo is considered to be a surfing town, as the surfing can be good. When I was there the waves were fairly small, though surf schools still operated on the beach.
Adventure tourism is big in Costa Rica. Kayaking, surfing, white water rafting, and ziplining are a few of the activities people do there. I enjoy these things so I signed up for a day of adventure with one of the many tour operators found in Tamarindo. $100+ for the day, including travel and a lunch. One stop on the tour was for tubing down a white water river. Completely fun of course and I recommend it. An odd thing is that the finish point is the same as the put in. The river flows down hill the entire time yet we ended where we started. Anyway, here are some pictures and videos for the trip. All pics were taken by tour guides from two separate points.
